For as long as humanity has existed, prayer and meditation have represented an essential part of each day. Whether individual or communal, read silently or chanted aloud, the essence of prayer is communion with God, closing the eyes to this world and opening it to another.

"The greatest attainment or the sweetest state is none other than conversation with God.   It creates spirituality, creates mindfulness and celestial feelings, begets new attractions to the Kingdom and engenders the susceptibilities of the higher intelligence." - `Abdu'l-Baha

There is a special potency to the Word of God that is beyond our understanding. It binds hearts together, helps us grow and develop, and inspires us in new ways. Through prayer and devotional gatherings, Baha'is share this experience with their community - neighbors, family, friends, and coworkers - bringing people together from all backgrounds in a setting that transcends physical borders and limitations.

You are more than welcome to take part in any devotional gatherings going on in your local area. Click on "Baltimore Baha'i News" to see what's happening near you!

Words of Wisdom

"O MAN OF TWO VISIONS! Close one eye and open the other. Close one to the world and all that is therein, and open the other to the hallowed beauty of the Beloved." -Baha'u'llah
